COMPANY HISTORY

History (cont'd) - Norris Legue is the President and founder of the company. He is a chemist who, in about 1969 began development of the first one-part urethane adhesive that was successfully used to install a synthetic turf football field. That invention; plus extensive outdoor installation work while fine tuning the adhesive; plus other pioneering efforts in the early stages of synthetic turf, eventually lead to the formation of Synthetic Surfaces Inc. in 1973.

While progress has long ago obsoleted the original adhesive, Synthetic Surfaces Inc. continues to develop new adhesives to meet the changing needs of the synthetic turf, flooring, sport and recreational surface business. NORDOT® is the trade name for these new generations of adhesives.

In addition to management of the company, Norris Legue is still active in
new adhesive development and technology. As a result, and as shown
in the picture, he has been dubbed by many in the trade as the
"Guru of Glue
® ".

The name Synthetic Surfaces Inc. was originally selected for the corporation because we specialized only in adhesives for installing synthetic turf, flooring, sport and other recreational surfaces. However, keep in mind that we are a chemical company that manufacturers adhesives, and not the surfaces themselves. Additionally, when both our business philosophy and the demanding adhesive performance and handling requirements necessary for successful sports surface installations were recognized, it was not surprising that our company and its NORDOT® Adhesives' technology was discovered by other industries. Companies with bonding problems, contacted us for help, so we now offer specialty adhesives for challenging and tough industrial applications in the automotive, flooring, packaging, plastics, construction, furniture, textile, roofing, defense and marine industries.
